CHILDREN’S MUSEUM WAIVER OF LIABILITY

- ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISKS
I understand that visiting Great River Children’s Museum involves inherent risks that may result in injury, including but not limited to:
- Slip, trip, and fall hazards on wet surfaces from water features, uneven outdoor terrain, rocks, and play structures.
- Water-related injuries from slipping near water features and navigating wet surfaces throughout water play area
- Equipment and structural hazards from interactive exhibits, climbing structures, and mechanical equipment
- Injuries in enclosed areas with limited visibility such as netting structures and specialty exhibit rooms
- Interaction risks with other visitors and potential contact with individuals outside the facility
I understand these risks may result in serious injury including but not limited to broken bones, sprains, cuts, bruises, concussions, paralysis, traumatic brain injuries, and death.
- SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS
I agree that:
- I will actively supervise my child(ren) at all times
- Caretakers are responsible for supervision of children
- I am solely responsible for my child(ren)’s safety, behavior, and compliance with museum rules
- Museum staff are not responsible for supervising children
- I will ensure my child(ren) interact with and handle exhibits and equipment with care
- I will treat other guests with respect and ensure my child(ren) do the same
- I understand shoes are required except on the Climber to the Clouds exhibit where socks are required
- WAIVER AND RELEASE
By visiting the Museum, I hereby agree to release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue Great River Children’s Museum and its affiliated entities, owners, directors, board members, employees, staff, volunteers, vendors, agents, and assigns (collectively “Museum”) from any and all liability for any loss, damage, injury, or death incurred while visiting the Museum arising out of ordinary negligence, whether or not caused by the Museum.
This waiver covers ordinary negligence by the Museum including but not limited to:
- Negligent maintenance or design of facilities and equipment
- Negligent failure to warn of hazardous conditions
- Negligent supervision or failure to provide adequate supervision
- Negligent failure to keep premises reasonably safe
This waiver does not cover gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
- ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS
Medical Authorization: I authorize Museum staff to provide basic first aid and seek emergency medical care for me and my child(ren) if needed. I am responsible for all medical expenses.
Governing Law: This agreement is governed by Minnesota law and drafted in accordance with Minnesota Statute §604.055.
Future Visits: This waiver applies to all future visits until replaced by a new agreement.
Written Copy: I understand that, upon request, I can receive a paper copy of this waiver.
- CERTIFICATION
I certify that:
- I have read and understand this waiver and the risks involved
- I understand I am waiving important legal rights for myself and my child(ren)
- I am signing this voluntarily and no one has made promises to modify this agreement
- My child(ren) are physically and mentally capable of participating in Museum activities
