Great River Children’s Museum was born on the vision of being a place where collaboration and creativity can come to life for the betterment of the community. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Creating meaningful experiences for our guests takes creativity, expertise and a willingness to work together.
GRCM’s brand new Sound Seekers exhibit is a shining example of how collaboration can bring about amazing results. What began as a simple idea grew into something much larger through a partnership with Great River Children’s Museum, St. Cloud State University and St. Olaf College.
Together, students and faculty from each institution and Dave Kaczor, Director of Education & Engagement at GRCM, designed an exhibit that encourages curiosity and discovery. Through hands on experiments, games, and activities, families learn about sound and communication by insects.
“Sound Seekers is a perfect example of what can happen when organizations come together with a shared vision for learning and play,” said Kaczor. “For the students, the project provided an opportunity to apply their learning to a real-world community initiative. For us at GRCM, we were able to bring in a fresh idea into our Hatchery space.”
As GRCM continues to grow, collaboration will remain a key part of our story. Whether through exhibit development, educational programming, research, or community events, we are grateful for the partners who help bring new ideas to life and expand opportunities for the children and families we serve.
The Sound Seekers exhibit will be at the museum through the end of August. GRCM will be hosting a “Meet the Artists” event on Saturday July 11 from 1-3pm. Both the exhibit and event are included as part of daily museum admission and membership.
